Appointments & intake
What kinds of pain do you treat?
We focus on chronic musculoskeletal and nerve-related pain — low back, neck, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, facet and SI joint arthritis, knee and shoulder arthritis, migraines and occipital neuralgia, and vertebral compression fractures, among others. Our procedures are minimally invasive and image-guided.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
Not usually. Most insurance plans do not require a referral to see us, though some HMO plans do. When you call to schedule, our team will verify whether your plan requires one.
How quickly can I be seen?
New-patient evaluations are typically scheduled within 3–5 business days. Urgent visits can often be seen sooner. Call (562) 252-0816 to schedule.
How long does a first visit take?
Most first visits take about 45 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. A full step-by-step walk-through is on our Visit page.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, insurance card (or your attorney’s information for lien cases), a list of current medications, any recent imaging reports or discs, and notes on prior treatments (injections, surgery, physical therapy).
Insurance & billing
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept all major insurance carriers. When you call (562) 252-0816 we can confirm whether we are in-network with your specific plan and estimate your out-of-pocket cost.
Do you take cases on lien for personal-injury patients?
Yes. We accept personal-injury and auto-accident cases on lien when the patient is represented by counsel. Our billing team coordinates directly with your attorney on treatment authorization, records, and narrative reports. See our page for attorneys.
Procedures & recovery
Are the procedures painful?
Our procedures use local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation. You may feel pressure or a brief pinch. Most patients describe the discomfort as less than expected, and soreness at the injection site typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
How long will a procedure take?
Most of our image-guided injections and nerve blocks take 15–30 minutes of table time. More involved procedures such as kyphoplasty or spinal cord stimulator trials take 30–60 minutes. You will go home the same day.
How soon will I feel relief?
It varies. Steroid injections often take 3–7 days to reach full effect. Radiofrequency ablation results may build over 2–4 weeks. We schedule a follow-up visit a few weeks after your procedure to measure how well it worked and plan next steps.
Will I be able to drive home after a procedure?
Most patients are asked to arrange a ride home if any sedation is used. For procedures done under local anesthesia only, many patients can drive themselves. We will confirm what to expect when the procedure is scheduled.
